Product review: ABH Glow Kit Moon Child

What better way to restart your blog than a product review? Caitlin's back from her MIA period wow!
How was everyone's Christmas? Mine was sooo chilled out and I definitely enjoyed it! Even though Christmas is all about family and friends and being thankful, I HAVE to share some of my presents with the world;-) Dont worry I'm not sponsored (come on I have 3 followers why would I be sponsored) this is merely for fun and entirely my opinion - because as you will get to know soon, I have a sliiiight obsession to highlighters, and what's better than getting 6 highlighters in 1! (Anastasia Beverly Hills you won my heart with that creation, fab idea, I salute you)

Anyway, as you may have noticed (even though I'm slightly late with this trend) early this year, Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kits sent the whole world on a craze and it was near impossible to get your hands on one, in fact if they were food, I probably would've starved to death... I was always jealous of anyone who had one! They were sold out all the time and I thought that I'd be able to get one on my trip to New York(comment if you'd like a travel post:-)) but, unfortunately they were all sold out in Sephora.

All in all there are 5 glow kits (correct me if I'm wrong) and the Moon child palette in my opinion is the more editorial makeup product, with a range of blue and purple tones, they're not your typical everyday highlighters but they are the perfect mix between fantasy and reality. If you're looking to step out of your comfort zone, or take up editorial makeup it is definitely the one.

With thanks to my Second family who had taken a trip to Florida this year, I woke up Christmas morning to this hyped Anastasia Beverly Hills Moon child palette, with my name on shiny wrapping paper!

I have to admit, packaging is a big thing for myself, and the packaging on Anastasia Beverly Hills product never fails to look and feel luxury! The Moonchild palette has a duo chrome, rainbow effect on a lovely light blue colour and definitely doesn't make you feel bad about spending £39.

What the website says:

Magically-Metallic highlighters that offer a celestial skin finish. Layer shades of Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit, together or sweep them separately on face, eyes and body for a kaleidoscopic, shimmering effect. Ideal for use with Brush #23. For a brightly amplified glow, apply with a damp makeup brush or sponge.

I couldn't agree more, who doesn't want to look magic? Ummm me please! But how wearable are these colours...

As you can see, each shade has its own colour to wow you with, but how does the public react to someone with purple cheeks? Personally, I wore the shade 'star' on Boxing Day, which appears to be a silver, metallic shade. Let me tell you, I wore that shade with complete confidence! That is until my dad called me pale and my Nan rubbed at my nose to remove the 'grey mark'...
Let me warn you to not go overboard on these shades, you may get your nose rubbed.

Now please don't take this as me dissing the palette,  because I'm definitely not, I love it very much and still continue to use it, however it can look 'childish' or a bit weird if you don't take care!

The shades from left to right: blue ice, star, purple horseshoe, pink heart, lucky clover, blue moon

Review of the shades

Blue ice-

What Anastasia says:  Diamond white with an icy blue reflect
What Caitlin says: This is one of my favourite shades from the palette, as it can look natural and      wearable while still appearing unique, it doesn't look chalky and has that wet sheen that I love, 8/10 from me!

Star-

What Anastasia says: A moonstone fusion of mint, platinum and silver reflect
What Caitlin says: After my bad experience with this shade, I've not really used it, however i imagine it would be lovely for an editorial look, or maybe a night out! Its formula is slightly more chalky than the others and I found that it doesn't last as long.

Purple horseshoe-

What Anastasia says: A glittering lavender with an arctic blue reflect
What Caitlin says:  This is definitely one the colours that makes this palette truly standout or, however I've not yet used it on my cheekbones! I reached for this while doing a halo eye look, and I swiped it in the centre of my lid, and I have to say I fell in love!

Pink heart-

What Anastasia says:  Pearl white with a pink opal reflect
What Caitlin says: Personally, this is my favourite shade in the palette and the most wearable, it's more like other highlighters in my opinion and gives a lovely pink sheen, definitely my most used!

Lucky clover-

What Anastasia says:  A shamrock-infused gold with canary yellow diamond reflect
What Caitlin says:  I'm not a huge fan of the emerald colours, however I have to say this is a stunning highlighter if it compliments your skin tone, even though I haven't used it very much I'd definitely reach for it in the future.

Blue moon-

What Anastasia says: Frozen blue with a silver reflect
What Caitlin says: Again like purple horseshoe, this shade is definitely a bold one, if you like blue ice and are looking for something more opaque this is the on! I've also used this in a halo eye look and  adored it.

This palette is a great confidence booster, and definitely represents a daring choice. If you're looking for something to slowly take you out of your comfort zone, this breathtaking celestial palette is worth every penny!
